we filmed outside until the rain drops came down

by: Brad

We filmed the pet sitters outside today. Even with very ominous clouds heading our way….

we managed to film almost all of the slated exterior scenes today. It was a very bad and quick storm that came through. After the storm had passed, we went outside to film the remaining 1 exterior scene. Other than that…it was a really nice filming day! :-) We are still digitizing the footage from today and the behind the scenes as well. We **should** have a behind the scenes video up tonight…at some point. We have a big exterior filming day tomorrow…filming outside the whole day and inside a car too. Should be interesting. We will have someone holding an umbrella over the camera (for sun protection and for in the event that it starts raining). Our sound equipment is weather proof, so that’s nice…. Zane is weather proof too :-) Geo stopped by tonight to learn editing and see the after-hours crew still working like the insanely dedicated crew members we are. :-) See everyone tomorrow bright and early!

The half of the Cast back at YAS

By Skyler McIntosh, Reyn Taylor & Maddie Earhart

Today about half of us stayed “In studio B” while the other half filmed at Maggie’s House (on Location). There are about four sleeping bags haphazardly spread across the room and Derk is modeling his lovely Simpson PJ pants for all of us fortunate to witness?….We all have been busily rehearsing our lines w/o stumbling or hesitating, ten times each scene in preparation for our filming days.

The BOYS have spent the last HOUR and a half rehearsing the same scene..mostly due to Douglas laughing……………Reyn & I gave up somewhere along the 10th attempt on their “Drivers Ed” scene and fell asleep waiting for the boys to finish.
Maddie & Harrison have been working so diligently all day and are the most focused in the room. Luckily we all got here on time this morning ( even Reyn, who got gas last night, so as of this week, her record for running out of gas will stay only 12 times!) Although at 6:30am in the morning, motivation for rehearsing, was a long nap- the closer it gets to lunch and the promise of food soon, is effective in getting the boys to work.
Everyone got grapes for snack & Harrison is expecially amused with a tiny one in his cup. Skyler is busy “scolding Douglas for squashing a rare silk worm ” ( it’s in her script) and after lunch she decides to identify with the silk worm by getting into her sleeping bag and pulling herself around the room, using only her arms….Well, I think we officially have gone through the scenes 10 times finally. Reyn left to intern with the behind the scenes crew, and wer have begun discussing the deeper meaning of life…then it stormed. ( Is that a sign of some type?…hmmm)

Day 2 Moviecamp: Filming starts!

By LINDA SETO
The GOOD news…everyone was “off book” today, YEAH! Rehearsals were intensive, as we had to make sure everyone was ready to start filming. Getting the lines and the characters down with a little staging…most staging/clocking will be done ON LOCATION with just a few minutes, before actual filming! There are some funny moments and the actors are really starting to enjoy their scenes! We will be filming a scene tomorrow that involves alot of food(real)- but it will mostly be used as props, not eaten….speaking of food…it’s been just ONE day- and the snacks that Terrie Jenevein brought in are half gone!! The actors have started working on their “100 things I’ve learned about moviemaking” list and had a quick course on ” actor’s interviews; publicity and marketing”. – oh, a local newspaper ( Southlake Times) reporter & photographer will be out “on Location” with us on Thursday this week to write a feature story!.. Note: we filmed “behind the scenes” today during rehearsals..so click on the link below to watch some of the action!
Calltime for tomorrow: 6:30 am for CAST

99 degrees and we are all melting

by: Brad

Don’t forget to watch the behind-the-scenes video recently uploaded…. (link in below post).
We filmed the pet flyers scene today (1:00-2:00 pm) and man was it hot outside! When we went back into the car to drive to a different neighborhood location, it was still hot inside the car …even with the air conditioning on full blast! That pet montage will end up lasting about 30 seconds or less in the final movie. We also filmed a teen montage shot (1 hour to set-up and film) but will only last about 10 seconds on the screen (in the movie) as well. Tomorrow’s shoot will be mostly inside…which will be nice. :-)

It’s 10:45pm…. we are still here

by: Brad

Maggie is currently eating nerds….I guess she thinks we are going to be here for a while. Zane is in the back figuring out the lighting… I just climbed off a ladder after moving some lights off the grid so we can use them for the film. And no….we are not secretly taking caffeine pills to stay awake…hahaha. So… who’s going to hold the umbrella over my head?

Moviecamp Day 1: the cast & crew meeting

by: Linda Seto

After several weeks of pre-production, re-writes of the script, finding props, preparing sets, finalizing Locations to film at, making wardrobe choices, breakdown of filming schedules ( if it rains, it will change), Cast calltimes, transportation lists, etc.. We are ready to start the Filming of this years Independent film, ” Adventure on Willow Street”- a family film with a cast of 13 young actors ages 10- 17 yrs. We will also have “cameo roles” by our own YAS Instructor, Maggie Truitt and by Aaron Uribe….oh.. you might not recognize them easily, as their characters are quite different.

Today we did our first cast “read through” with most people still “on book”…that’s a bit scary- since we actually start FILMING
tomorrow. It’s always a CHALLENGE to produce these Movies every summer, and this year it’s even LONGER! It will be about another 10-15 minutes longer, yet we are STILL Filming everything in LESS THAN 1 WEEK!… talk about a Challenge!!.. Hollywood Movies take much longer.

This year HARRISON HOLMES, DOUGLAS O’LAUGHLIN, & BRANDON SMITH are making their first DEBUT in an independent Film
and will certainly get a “crash course” in just how difficult “moviemaking” really is!!.. The glamourous part is the PREMIER held
at the ANGELIKA FILM CENTER, Plano, when you get to “dress to dazzle” at this exciting event- where You ARE the Star!..

Getting up early every day this week….try 5:00am and long hours of filming is REALITY. There’s alot to be done but with our
experienced Crew- with Brad’s talents on the Camera, Suzanne on sound/audio and Maggie Directing- and our talented cast we will meet the challenge and do GREAT!

BIGGEST WORRY- the weather, of course. So far, it may rain on Tues or Wed and we have scheduled to be FILMING OUTDOORS on Wednesday- ALL DAY!!.. We will be checking the WFFA weather radar several times a day, for possible changes in our filming schedule. If we need to switch scenes around, we will do it. Having a PLAN B is vital to Moviemaking! The HEAT is a concern too….it gets HOT filming outdoors with this Texas sun, so we’ll be bringing alot of water and sunscreen.

FILMING LOCATIONS: We’ll be at Maggie’s parents house & neighborhood in Irving for a few days and at Danielle S.’ parents House in Southlake on a few. They have an amazing Clubhouse located in a Tree in their backyard, which we’ll be also filming at.
They are so wonderful to offer their Homes for our Filming this year!

MOMS in the “action!”… Maddie Earhart’s mom- Kim and Alexis Sillaway’s mom, Jennifer will be at YAS this week volunteering
to watch the Office at our Staff is busy On Location Filming…. Jane Marie Jenevein’s mom, Terrie is buying snacks for cast & crew, and Ashton Armstrong’s mom, Tobie is bringing her Dog, Margo to be in our Movie too!

Tomorrow, we spend time FILMING and REHEARSING LINES. Calltime: 9:00 am for Cast
After that…long hours and little sleep ( exp. for the CREW who has to arrive EARLY and leave LATE!) We’ll be adding those “extra shots” to our Starbucks coffee drinks for the Crew!… Yet, its exciting, fun and such an amazing CREATIVE Project to be involved in!!

STAY TUNED for more…..
